| Speaking on the
Value of O*NET: |
"O*NET is a great resource for identifying transferable skills
and getting to options. It’s a great reality check."
“There are many O*NET features that are truly valuable
to my clients. For example, the fact that skills and tasks are ranked
according to importance. That is illuminating to clients. And the
link to the Labor Market Information is wonderful."
“For clients who are computer savvy, I can get them to use O*NET
OnLine for research homework assignments. They can work independently."

| Time when O*NET was particularly helpful
for a client: |
Worked with a young woman, just a few years out of college, who
had been working in customer service/financial planning. Was miserable.
Knew to pick up and poke around and find a career that was right for
her.
She already had read many career books. She was great at researching.
She did assessments. A lot of help came from O*NET. She explored,
really dug deeply, came to about five occupations that were a good
match. Explored further and decided the best fit was nutritionist.
Of course, she had to get more education, which she learned about
through O*NET. A lot of pertinent information was available from O*NET
and its links. She worked her plan, became a nutritionist, and took
her occupation to the entrepreneurial level. Now she has her own business!
